I’ve been working as an illustrator for over eight years, having studied Graphic Communication with Illustration at Sheffield College in 1998. During this time I have illustrated for a variety of different media – including Animation, Editorial illustration, E-learning, Flash games, Character design, Storyboarding and more recently, Children’s book illustration. My previous clients include The Financial Times, Make Believe Ideas, Über, Argent Group, Team Cooper, Line Communications, Brammer and The MOD.
I specialise in bold, humorous and colourful illustrations and predominantly use a variety of digital methods to enhance hand drawn sketches and ideas. Having spent many years refining my illustration process in Illustrator and Photoshop, I am now enjoying the challenge of getting back to basics, experimenting with with new mediums such as screen printing and pen and ink.
I have a few personal projects on the go – I am currently designing and illustrating a childrens picture book. I’m also about to launch a line of my artwork for sale called, Stinky Whizzers : fun and engaging prints for children. This is a joint venture with Claire Alderson (my sister-in-law) and we are currently putting the finishing touches to the webshop.
I’m never without my mole skin sketchbook and pencil, as often my doodles become new projects, characters or simply just a means of entertainment. Drawing has always been a part of my life and I’m very lucky to be able to enjoy it as a job and a hobby.
I do also have a life outside of drawing pictures. I love outdoor activities such as mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing when I get the chance.
